Since 1983, IPG Genesis has pioneered advancements in robotic automation with laser technology solutions for welding, cutting, marking, and ablation. IPG Genesis guides customers across every step of their factory automation, from system design and engineering to full-scale integration. Based in Davenport, Iowa, with a second manufacturing location in San Juan del Rio, Mexico, IPG Genesis has served clients in a variety of industries, including e-mobility, aerospace, and transportation. In 2018, Genesis Systems was acquired by IPG Photonics, a global leader in fiber laser technology.

As a longstanding client of Decision Resources, IPG Genesis has relied on Infor CloudSuite Industrial ERP as a core part of its operations for many years. In 2024, the company sought to transition off an external hosting service, modernize and consolidate its systems, and drive business process alignment across its U.S. and Mexico locations. With these goals in mind, IPG Genesis chose to upgrade from SyteLine 9 to Infor CloudSuite Industrial 10 in a multi-site, on-premise environment.

Driving Efficiency with Laser Precision

The upgrade aimed to modernize and standardize IPG Genesis’ operations with the latest features in CloudSuite Industrial. To achieve this, the manufacturer identified several key goals for the project:

• Transition from an external hosting service to an internal hosting model to reduce costs.
• Modernize their system and leverage new features from version 10.
• Reduce their footprint of unused ERP products and streamline their site structure.
• Align business practices across U.S. and Mexico facilities.

Decision Resources was engaged to provide implementation services for the U.S. site and establish process improvements to later be adopted by the Mexico site. Cimatic, an Infor Gold Channel Partner based in Mexico City, was brought in to support upgrade efforts in Mexico. This partnership ensured cohesion across both facilities.
